
Marjorie
E. Bohn is currently the Elementary
Choral Director at Brocton Central School where she teaches General Music
K-5 and directs the Elementary Chorus. One of the original members of
Chautauqua Children’s Chorale, Mrs. Bohn was inspired to continue her
music education by Mrs. Nancy Krestic. A graduate of the School of Music
at SUNY Fredonia, she has taught K-12 and co-taught conducting/methods and
co-directed the University Chorus at SUNY Fredonia during her graduate
studies.
Mrs. Bohn conducts the Chautauqua Children’s Chorale
Concert Chorale and serves on the Board of Directors. Chosen to
participate in the New York State Summer School of the Arts (NYSSSA) for
three years, Mrs. Bohn was honored with the Dean Harrington Award and the
Outstanding Soprano Award. While in college, she was a member of Sigma
Alpha Iota International Music Fraternity for Women. Her memberships
currently include the New York State School Music Association (NYSSMA),
the Chautauqua County Music Teachers Association (CCMTA), the American
Choral Directors Association (ACDA), and MENC, the National Association
for Music Education. In addition to directing, co-directing, and
choreographing several musicals, operettas, and grade level shows, Mrs.
Bohn has chaired music festivals in Orleans County, NY, and Loudoun
County, VA.
She resides in Dunkirk, New York, with her husband Andrew, son Jeremy, and
daughter Marencia.
Daniel
L. Bromsted
is currently the Elementary Choral Director at Silver
Creek Central School where he teaches General Music Grades PK-5, three
Elementary Choruses, and the annual Elementary Musical. A graduate of the School
of Music at SUNY Fredonia, Mr. Bromsted is a member of the New York State School
Music Association (NYSSMA), the Music Educators National Conference (MENC), and
the American Choral Directors Association (ACDA), and is a frequent clinician,
guest conductor, and adjudicator of voice and choruses throughout New York
State. His Elementary Choruses have consistently performed at the highest level
at NYSSMA Spring Choral Evaluations, achieving Gold and Gold With Distinction
honors at Treble Chorus Levels I, II, and III for many years. He has also
assisted NYSSMA as a member of the Selection Committee for Treble Chorus
repertoire for the NYSSMA Manual, and is a past member of the All State
Selection Committee.
A Life-Member of ACDA, Mr. Bromsted is a
Past-President of the New York chapter of the organization, having
formerly held the positions of President, President-Elect, Repertoire and
Standards Chair for Children’s Choirs, and Chairman of the New York State
Elementary Children’s Honor Choir. He is an active member of the
Chautauqua County Music Teachers Association (CCMTA), and has held
virtually every office within the organization, including President,
Vice-President, Past-President, Spring and Winter Festival Coordinators,
as well as Festival Chairman for the Elementary, Junior, and Senior
Choruses. He is presently the Assistant Artistic Director and Accompanist
for the internationally-known Chautauqua Children’s Chorale, acts as Camp
Co-Coordinator, and serves on the Board of Directors. Mr. Bromsted has
also served as a panelist on the Decentralization and Pools Project Boards
of the Arts Council for Chautauqua County.
Mr. Bromsted has been an active baritone soloist,
having performed with the Buffalo and Erie Philharmonic Orchestras, the
Fredonia Chamber Players, the Freudig Singers of Western New York, the
Artpark Opera Chorus, and the Chautauqua Chamber Singers. He is the former
Artistic Director of the Western New York Opera Theatre of Buffalo, where
he directed and performed in numerous operas, operettas and musicals there
and at SUNY Fredonia.
Mr. Bromsted resides in Dunkirk, New York with his
wife Bonnie, and daughter Elizabeth.
